About Not Just Frames
John and I started refurbishing furniture a few years ago, it was a hobby that we enjoyed doing as a couple. We worked different shifts and as you can image we wanted to be able to have something we would enjoy doing together. I enjoyed the refurbishing stage and found it touched my creative nerve.
We began to collaborate on projects and in 2017, John bought me my Cricut – a die-cutting machine, which allows designs to be cut out of different kinds of material. I fell in love with all the new designs I could create.
In 2018, we moved from Illinois to Pennsylvania and are now on somewhat of the same schedule which allows us time to be together. I thought I would pick up where I left off in crafting, but the market was saturated, and the East Coast market/style is different than the Midwest. Not letting that defeat me, I began concentrating on t-shirts, smaller hand crafts and wooden signs.
I really struggled trying to find sign blanks that were not only affordable but good quality. I had found an online group that sold blanks but they had very limited options and quantity, so it was almost a race to get what I needed.
Once I got the sign blanks, I liked how easy it was to complete a finished product. I showed John (who is an awesome builder by the way) and he said “I can build that.” That was all I needed to hear, and we were off to the races!
We make a great team and decided to take it a step further and offer our frame blanks for sale to other crafters. We saw the need and felt compelled to fill it!
